Kirsten Gruber

Hello new 6th graders and families! My name is Kirsten Gruber and I teach Social Studies, Science and Health as part of the 6th grade team here at Sauk Centre Elementary.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy gardening, just enjoying the weather, or watching my favorite volleyball team.  I also enjoy reading, playing board games, and learning new things. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a middle school endorsement in Science from St. Cloud State University. I am currently working my master's degree in Education.

I hope you are as excited to begin 6th grade, as I am to teach it. I look forward to meeting, working with, and learning from all of you this year!

Hi! I'm Heidi Gustafson and I teach 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) I have been entertaining 6th graders for the past 5 years, but have taught all grade levels K-6 over the course of my teaching career. I earned a Masters in Education a few years ago, but that basically means I like learning!

Learning from my students drives my days. I am excited for this year to be adding Exploration time to our day. This will allow the students time to be their own teachers exploring ideas that we just can't get to in the content areas. We will have a busy year of Reading, Writing, and Thinking. I utilize the "Daily 3" in our routine to make sure we are becoming stronger readers and writers. I love reading and some of the best reads come from my students, so I can't wait to hear their recommendations.

I utilize Canvas for assignments and grades, although final grades get posted on Powerschool. If you need to connect with me, Remind or email are best. Calling works too - typically before or after school. However, I am always willing to set up an in-person meeting if you prefer. Looking forward to a great year!

Welcome to Sixth Grade!  I am very excited about this school year!  This year I will be teaching sixth-grade math. During this course, the sixth graders will be working on many problem-solving skills that require critical thinking and group work. At the beginning of the school year, we will be reviewing to make sure how caught up the students are with their math skills. The sixth-grade curriculum will include ratios and rates, the division of decimals and fractions, integers, algebra, geometry, and statistics. We will also be focusing on real-world scenarios so students are able to see its connection to math.

I look forward to working with you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
