No, the School District’s existing levy expires in 2021 and will not change. With the proposed levy, voters are being asked to vote on a six-year $1,033.83/pupil referendum that would begin with taxes payable in 2021 after the existing referendum expires.

Because this is a Special Election, there will be one combined polling location where ALL voters will vote. The combined location will be at the following location:

The reason for one combined polling location is strictly because of financial reasons and the additional cost to the district to set up separate polling sites.
You can vote at the Sauk Centre City Hall between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
Yes, you may register to vote at the polling site. Anyone who registers on Election Day must provide one of the proofs of residence listed below:
- Driver’s License, state ID or learner’s permit issued by any state
- United States passport
- United States Military or Veteran ID
- Tribal ID with the name, signature and photo of the voter
- Minnesota university, college or technical college ID
- Minnesota high school ID
Voters must also show proof of a bill, account or start of service statement due or dates within 30 days of election for:
- Phone (landline, cell, VOP etc.)
- Electric, gas, or water
- Rent or mortgage payment
- TV (cable, satellite, etc.)
- Solid waste or sewer
- Banking or credit card
A registered voter can also vouch for you that you live in the district.

Yes, if voters would like to vote absentee by mail, they must complete the 2019 Minnesota Absentee Ballot Application (please see attached for a copy of this application) and can scan/email it to both of the following email addresses:

Based upon auditor recommendations as well as financial best practices, it is recommended that school district’s have three months worth of expenses as a fund balance. Depending on the month, Sauk Centre Schools has approximately $1 million in monthly expenses. Given this, the fund balance should be about $3 million.
