First grade is an exciting time for student learning! We are preparing them for higher grades by gaining the foundational skills they need to become great readers and mathematicians.  Among other things, they are learning about spelling conventions, sentence structure, and science.  In first grade, we use Daily Five as our reading structure to help first graders learn in a way that's both engaging and age appropriate.  Our goal is to develop a true love of literacy and to create independent learners.
