Band/Music Studies (full year preferred, 2 quarter minimum)

Prerequisite:  Students must complete instruction in band through the 8^th grade level or by audition.

Credit:  1 credit per quarter

Grade:  9-12

College Credit:  No

Students must be registered quarters 3 and 4 in order to participate in MSHSL contests.  

Music Studies is a performance class with a focus on individual performance goals which will be met via individual lessons and related reading assignments.  Practice and reading time is provided during class.  Seniors may have the opportunity to perform youth service during their fourth year of music studies.

*Any senior enrolled in 12/16 quarters of music through grades 9-12 and all 4 quarters their senior year is eligible for the spring New York City trip.  Any exceptions must be approved by the instructor and administration.
